It’s been almost 20 years since Fat Friends burst onto our TV screens, but its back in the form of an entertaining touring musical making its Scottish debut at the Playhouse this week.

Saughtonhall Drama Club opens its 70th anniversary year with Cocoa and Cuddles by Jane Lockyer Willis, a strange and worryingly disconnected piece of theatre.
PPP: Margaret Saves Scotland
★★☆☆☆ Sugary:
Margaret Saves Scotland, the latest offering in the Play, A Pie and A Pint season, marks the return of Val McDermid to the stage. Anyone expecting a taut and bloody crime thriller, however, should be warned that this is a low-key piece, wistful and almost wilfully slight.
