As the political stew bubbles over the edges of the Westminster cauldron, Allegro’s big and bold production of Made in Dagenham reminds us of a time when politics was a lot more simple – and the issues were even more fundamental.

Gareth Gates is to star in the 2020 UK tour of Footloose The Musical, coming to the Playhouse in July and on to the Glasgow King’s in August.
Prism

There is a deeply felt emotional core to Prism at the King’s. Written and directed by Terry Johnson, the play benefits from an excellent central performance by Robert Lindsay.

Big, camp and packing a glitter-ball attitude to rock’n’roll, the latest touring production of The Rocky Horror Show piles in to the Playhouse for the final week of its extended UK tour.

What’s on Edinburgh’s stages this week
There’s plenty of variety this week, from the dark, emotionally charged Fibres at the Traverse to political musical Made in Dagenham at the Church Hill and the emotionally bruising Prism at the King’s.

There’s a pretty extreme choice of entertainment on Edinburgh’s stages this week, from the quirky brilliance of Live Art cabaret Anatomy at the Traverse to the full-on splendour of The King and I at the the Playhouse.

Frankenstein

Confused in its execution, Selladoor’s touring version of Frankenstein has high production values but offers little in the way of pre-Hallowe’en excitement.
The King and I
★★★★★ Fit for a King:
Shall we dance? You’ll certainly be singing the praises of this Broadway production of The King and I as it lights up the Playhouse stage.
