Casting for three digital productions
Leading Edinburgh amateur company Edinburgh Graduate Theatre Group has put out a casting call for three digital productions as part of the 2021 Edinburgh Fringe 2021.
Gene Kelly Ballet for SB
Scottish Ballet is planning a hybrid tour and feature-length film this autumn of Starstruck, a reworking with new elements of Gene Kelly’s 1960 ballet Pas de Dieux, which will be getting its UK premiere in the production.

Rona Munro is to return to the Kings James for her next play, James IV – Queen of the Fight, which will premiere at Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre in the autumn of 2022 before touring Scotland.
Physical distancing lifted – official responses
Theatres and events respond to physical distancing news
The announcement in Holyrood on Tuesday that, if all goes according to plan, physical distancing will be completely lifted on Monday 9 August 2021 has been welcomed by Edinburgh’s theatres and events organisers.

Edinburgh’s theatres are facing the real prospect of being able re-open, after the Scottish Government amended its roadmap out of Covid, so it will now remove all physical distancing measures from Monday August 9 2021.

Bat Out Of Hell – the Musical, has confirmed dates for Edinburgh’s Playhouse in February 2022, before it heads up to Aberdeen, with an earlier visit to the Glasgow King’s in October this year. Tickets are on sale for all three dates.
