Youth company seeks artistic director

The Lothian Youth Arts and Musicals Company, LYAMC, is looking for an artistic director to join the existing production team.

The Edinburgh-based charity is one of Scotland’s leading amateur youth musical companies. Founded in 1998, its main objective is to make musical theatre fun for 120 youngsters aged 8 to 25.

The company holds auditions once a year in January, with a concert style production in April and a full scale musical in September.

Susan French has been at the helm for the last two years, staging successful productions of Seussical the Musical and this September’s High School Musical.

Now the hunt is on for someone to take over the role of artistic director. They should have a creative flair and be passionate about musical theatre and working with young people. The initial intention is that they will join the company for the two 2018 productions, with rehearsals starting in April.

The company has a well established support team in place with assistant director Marc Mackinnon, choreography from Fiona Jackson and musical direction from James McCutcheon.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the role should contact Carole at carole.gibson276@gmail.com. Applicants should send a CV with covering email/letter to info@lyamc.com, with a closing date of Thursday 28 December 2017.
