Festival Theatre’s June dates fall to Covid

The producers of The Addams Family have cancelled its dates in Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre, where it was booked to run Tue 14 – Sat 18 June 2022, blaming the effects of Covid in its audiences.

In total, the producers have cancelled the last four dates of the show’s UK tour, saying it is due to the “continued impact of the effects of Covid on our audiences and their willingness to return to the theatres”.

The musical, which stars Strictly’s Joanne Clifton as Morticia, is currently playing Truro and will continue until the end of the month, fulfilling dates at the Manchester Opera House (19 – 23) and Norwich Theatre Royal (26 – 30).

The Festival Theatre says that it has contacted all ticket holders whose email addresses it holds and asks anyone who has not been contacted to get in touch at bookings@capitaltheatres.com.

The full 50 word statement from the Adams Family producers, published on the Festival Theatre website, says:

“Due to the continued impact of the effects of Covid on our audiences and their willingness to return to the theatres, we have unfortunately had to take the decision to close the tour of The Addams Family earlier than planned. We apologise for any disappointment and inconvenience this might cause”.

The other venues at the which the cancelled production should have played are the Eastbourne Congress Theatre (Tue 10 – Sat 14 May), the Oxford New Theatre (Tue 24 – Sat 28 May) and His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen (Tue 7 – Sat 11 Jun).
