New Skool kicks from Bare

Edinburgh’s Bare Productions has launched Bare Academy, aimed at providing local amateurs with opportunities to improve their skillsets and confidence in dance, acting and singing.

Bare’s aim is to ensure that classes are accessible and affordable for all. Classes are designed for all levels of experience from absolute beginner to those who are well accustomed to performing on stage.

Bare Academy Autumn semester starts this week.

Bare’s Dominic Lewis told Æ: “We designed Bare Academy to allow for anyone to come along to one place to improve their skillsets and we hope that they leave feeling more confident in their own abilities.

“This semester, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all classes will be offered online and are therefore open to anyone in the AmDram community regardless of geographical location.”

The Academy is offering a four week acting course led by Caroline Dyega looking at the techniques used to bring a character from page to stage while stamping your own mark on the role.

It is also offering four dance classes. A masterclass with Jodie Steele, which is already fully subscribed, and three “step by step” classes – Dancing in Heels; Contemporary Jazz; and Commercial.
