Captivate still seek Jean for Sunshine on Leith

Captivate Theatre has put out a late casting call for the role of Jean in its Edinburgh fringe 2016 production of Sunshine on Leith.

The company will be staging the musical in the Famous Spiegeltent in St Andrew Square for the duration of the fringe and need an actress who is available for all rehearsals and performances.

Sunshine Casting CallThe production is mostly fully cast, but the company is still looking for an age-appropriate actress to play the role of Jean. She is the mother of Davy, who returns to Leith from a stint in the army at the beginning of the show, and has been married for 25 years.

When the casting call was originally put out in January, musical director Tommie Travers told Æ “I think over the years, we’ve got the reputation of being a youth theatre. Whilst we are passionate about our drama classes and giving youngsters great opportunities, we are ultimately a theatre company, and everyone is welcome.”

Anyone wishing to audition for the role should email captivatetheatre@gmail.com fur further details.

Reviews of Captivate’s productions of Sunshine on Leith at previous fringes, with Shona Cowie as Jean, are available here (2015) and here (2014).
