Edinburgh’s One Act Finalists

Arbery Productions through to Scottish final

Two of Edinburgh’s four entries came away with awards at the Eastern Division round of the SCDA One Act Play Festival held at the Church Hill Theatre over the weekend.

Arbery Productions’ Bull, by Mike Bartlett, came second overall out of the nine plays. The winners were Leslie ADC with Nine by Jane Shephard and both will compete the final at the Adam Smith Theatre Kirkcaldy, 25 – 27 April.

In the category prizes, Edinburgh Graduate Theatre Group’s production of An Actor’s Nightmare by Christopher Durang won in both  the Best Moment in Theatre category and the Best Comedy.

The results of the Eastern Division Full Length Festival for 2018/19 were also announced, with Edinburgh Theatre Arts walking away the winners with last April’s production of Moon Over Buffalo (Æ review: ★★★☆☆ Comic capers). The runner-up was Fintrie ADS with Journey’s End.

Wilma Munro Quaich (Highest marks in Acting): Kirkcaldy Amateur Dramatic Society with Effie’s Burning by Valerie Windsor.
Jean Fleming Trophy (Best comedy): Edinburgh Graduate Theatre Group for An Actor’s nightmare by Christopher Durang.
Jimmy Brown Trophy (Best Moment of Theatre): Edinburgh Graduate Theatre Group for An Actor’s Nightmare by Christopher Durang.
