The Festival City Theatres Trust has appointed two new members to its board.

Karen Cairney and Gordon Jack will join as directors for a term of five years  following the completion of their terms of office by Joanna Baker and Iain McLaren.

FCTT manages the 1,300 seat Edinburgh King’s, 1,900 seat Festival theatre and the 200 seat Festival Studio.

According to the trust, Karen Cairney brings considerable experience in development and communications to the board. Currently Director of International, Development & External Affairs at Napier University, she leads the management and implementation of the University’s international strategy, marketing and communications and fundraising strategies.

Cairney has worked as a senior level professional in the charitable and educational sectors for over 25 years, and has experience of working with a variety of different sectors including, health, education, arts, environment and social services.

Gordon Jack is a chartered accountant and past member of the ICAS Council and a Trustee of the ICAS Foundation who brings financial expertise to the Board. A partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers until retirement, he is currently a member of Court at Glasgow Caledonian University and serves on the financial reporting council’s disciplinary tribunal. He is immediate past Chairman and an Honorary Governor of The Glasgow Academy.

Commenting on the new appointments, chair of the board Dame Joan K Stringer said: “We’re delighted to welcome Karen Cairney and Gordon Jack to the board. Gordon’s financial expertise and Karen’s broad knowledge and experience of fundraising and development will be valuable assets over the next few years. I look forward to working alongside them as we take the Festival and King’s Theatres on towards 2020.”
