Junior Review by Cora Dibdin

Assembly George Square Theatre (Venue 8): Thurs 6 – Mon 31 Aug 2015

Everyone thought that Hairy Maclary’s Cat Tales was funny and nearly everyone joined in.

Hairy Maclary is a dog from Donaldson’s dairy. He is a character from books by Lynley Dodd. The play is mostly music but is not a musical.

Hairy Maclarys Cat Tales LogoThe main story is the Riverside Cat Show, but in between that, they have other stories of Hairy Maclary and his friends.

Most of the stories include cats like Slinky Malinki who steals things, or Scarface Claw, not being scared of anything – or is he?

Two of Hairy Maclary’s friends are Schnitzel von Krumm with the very low tum and Hercules Morse as big as a horse. Schnitzel von Krumm was my favourite.

The actors put on costumes to make them look like all the different dogs and cats. They look like the characters from the book.

There was Miss Plum who is quite important and Mr Pemberton, President of the Cat Club.

Hairy Maclary was very funny. I liked that it was the cat show but had dogs in it. The stories are different from the stories they told in the play last year. I think this year’s was the best. I liked how they involve Miss Plum in it.
