Green light for Kings Stables Road

Hidden Door, the pop-up arts festival, has confirmed that it has been given the green light to hold this year’s event from 22 to 30 May at the old street lighting depot on King’s Stables Road.

Although the festival has pre-sold tickets for its opening night, use of the King’s Stable Road site had not been guaranteed by current owners, the City Council. The uncertainty was added to last week, when it was announced that a buyer had been found for the site.

Hidden Door broke the news on its facebook page: “We are delighted to announce… the council and the developers have given us the Green Light for Hidden Door at Kings Stables Road….

“It is official!!! Now we can get really stuck into bringing this incredible site to life, in the best possible way! Thanks to everyone who has helped us get to this stage!”

As reported previously on Æ, the festival will include some 20 theatre and dance events among the 100 different artists and organisations taking part. Last year’s event was held in the Market Street Vaults and attracted over 7,500 people.
