New guerilla arts project from Creative Electric

Young theatre company Creative Electric is launching a new guerilla arts project this Sunday, with pop-up performances of experimental show Treat.

Described as: “An interactive experience where audiences and performers share ice cream,” Treat was originally a four hour long durational piece, staged by director Heather Marshall in Stockholm in August 2014.

Pop-up performances of the piece will take place on Sunday, 8 March 2015, at Hunters Square (12.30pm), Teviot Square (1.30pm) and the Grassmarket (2.30pm) with “more locations to be added or discovered on the day”.

Treat is also described as: “A performance that explores the development and deterioration of emotion over time,” In it, Marshall aimed to explore the fragility of 21st century life. Treat, in all its full durational four-hour glory, will also be staged as part of the Hidden Door arts festival at the end of May.

The March 8 performances of Treat mark the launch of Creative Electric’s new guerilla arts project, supported by Creative Scotland’s Time to Shine fund and Artcore Edinburgh.

Creative Electric will be holding workshops that explore visual and performance art inspired by artists that create work on and for the streets. These will take place on Thursday evenings from March 19 at The Bongo Club and are open to all young people aged over 15.

For further information on the workshops, which will be free and for which no previous experience is required, either turn up at a performance of Treat or email Heather Marshall at Creative_electric@hotmail.com.
