Zoo Story takes first place at One Act Fest

Leitheatre has taken first place at the Edinburgh District round of the SCDA’s One Act Festival at the Church Hill Theatre this week with Edward Albee’s Zoo Story and got highest marks for acting.

Mill Youth Theatre won the Colin Peter Memorial Trophy for Youth Festival winner with their production of Zero for Young Dudes! by Alistair McDowall and, as they entered into both the youth and open competitions, were also eligible for and won the Best Moment of Theatre award.

Bull from Arbery Productions came second and won the prize for best stage presentation

Adjudication was by Dr. Russell Boyce, former head of drama at the Royal Scottish Conservatoire. Companies are awarded marks for stage presentation, direction, acting and dramatic achievement.

Second placed was Arbery Productions with Bull by Mike Bartlett, which also won the award for highest mark in Stage Presentation.

Coming third and also winning the award for highest marks in Production was the EGTG with An Actor’s Nightmare by Christopher Durang directed by Jenny Tamplin.

Taking fourth place and also going through to the Eastern Division Festival in April at the Church Hill Theatre, was Edinburgh Theatre Arts with The Cagebirds by David Campton.
