Paid acting opportunities for EdFringe 2022

American producer, director and writer Gabriella Giocomo is seeking three actors for an original comedy, Locked In, which is scheduled for a full three week run at EdFringe 2022.

Giocomo says that this is a paid opportunity with an approved Equity Fringe contract which is open to both Equity and non-Equity members. Initial Zoom meetings will start in April and rehearsals in June, with in-person rehearsals in August. Run is at theSpace on the Mile from Fri 5 to Sat 27 August.

Locked In Publicity

Gabriella Giocomo is writing and directing the show. She says that this Fringe run is intended as a launchpad for further opportunities for the material. The comedy will be preceded by a sketch: Dave Shakespeare – “a decidedly silly swipe at pseudo-intellectuals.”

Auditions will be by video, with auditionees required to introduce themselves and read from the appropriate sides which are available to download from Google Drive. Deadline for applications is March 20.

LOCKED IN EdFringe Auditions

“A ticking clock. A dodgy nursing home. Step in from the bustle of the Mile for a bundle of laughter with Locked In, a joyful comedy premiere. Also featured: Dave Shakespeare, a decidedly silly swipe at pseudo-intellectuals.”

All three roles require strong comedic instincts.

RICK – Playing age mid-20s to 30s
Excellent comic timing, high energy – he will put you through your paces!

GRANDDAD (RICHARD) – Playing age senior/character
Excellent comic timing and pathos. He’s a porcupine – spiky outside, fuzzy inside.

MR. BENTLEY (JOE, Granddad’s roommate) – Playing age senior/character
Excellent comic timing. He’s a sweet old fellow, but a bit lost now and again.

Two actors TBD will also have roles in the sketch preceding the primary piece.
