LYAMC annual auditions on Jan 15
The Lothian Youth Arts and Musicals Company has announced its annual auditions for Sunday 15 January 2017.
This will be the only opportunity to join this leading Edinburgh youth musicals company this year. It is open to all boys and girls aged eight or over on February 1 2017.
Founded in 1998 the main objective of LYAMC is to make musical theatre fun for 120 youngsters, aged 8 to 25, every year.
According to the LYAMC: “We seek to develop, educate and encourage young people in various aspects of the performing arts. The company has developed into a high profile organisation that consistently achieves excellent production standards.”
Among its other activities, the company stages a musical every autumn at the Church Hill Theatre. It’s 2015 production was Honk! and it staged Seussical the Musical in 2016. This year’s production has yet to be announced.
This year’s auditions will take place on at St Andrew’s Church, Clermiston. There is no need to pre-book, but auditionees should turn up in good time for registration, which opens at 1pm. Auditions will start at 1.30pm, running through to between 3.30 and 5pm.
There is no need to prepare a specific piece in advance. All auditionees will be taught a song and a dance during a short workshop session. The dance will then be performed in small groups. Auditionees will then be called in small groups or individually to sing in front of the production team audition panel.
Decisions will be made following all auditions and everyone will be notified by email if they have successfully gained a place in LYAMC.

LYAMC warn that there is no space for parents to wait at the auditions, but that they will contact parents when their children are finished.
Auditionees should take water and be dressed in comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for the dance workshop.
