Slava returns December for brief run
Slava’s Snowshow is to return to the Festival Theatre for a limited run this December as part of a seven-date UK tour.
The show is a combination of theatrical clowning and visual spectacle. It is performed by the clown company founded by Slava Polunin, who was recently appointed Artistic Director of the St Petersburg Circus.
Slava’s Snowshow had its UK premiere at the Hackney Empire in 1996, the same year it made its Scottish debut at the Edinburgh fringe. It has since toured all over the world and winning an Olivier Award for Best Entertainment during its run at the Old Vic in 1998.
Influenced by artists such as Chaplin, Marcel Marceau and Engibarov, Slava and his company have taken clowning out of the world of circus, and brought it to theatre lovers, fellow practitioners and families world-wide.
All told, the show has played over 4000 performances to more than 3 million spectators in 120 venues in 30 countries.
This will be the show’s second run at the Festival Theatre following its sell-out appearance in December 2011.
