Free theatre at Scot:Lands is go!

A second tranche of tickets for Scot:Lands, the free theatre, music and film adventure round Edinburgh’s Old Town on Ne’er Day has been released.

Running from 1pm-5pm in 11 different “lands” around the Old Town, audiences make up their own randomised route around the  various events on offer.

The event is the final part of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay. Audiences start from the Home Land at the Old College Quad on South Bridge, with two separate starting times – from 12.30-2pm and 2-3.30pm. Tickets are free but need to be booked in advance through Event Brite.

Audiences go from one land to the next at their own pace, with their next destination chosen for them by the spin of a compass. Each land is curated by a different cultural institution, including dance from Curious Seed at D’arc:Land, spoken word from Rally & Broad at Coorie-in:Land, traditional storytelling from TRACS at Licht:Land and film from the EIF at Cine:Land.

Other curators are the Blazin’ Fiddles (Blazin:Land), Vic Galloway (Lyrical:Land), Chemikal Underground (Chemikal Land), An Lanntair Arts Centre (Sea Bird:Land), Skye-based Atlas Arts (Blue Skye:Land) and The Insider Festival (Insider:Land).

A junior version of the event, Wee Scot:Land – for children aged under ten –  is also running at the National Museum of Scotland on Chambers Street at the same time. A separate ticket is needed for this event from Event Brite.

The day’s events end with a ceilidh in the National Museum of Scotland’s main hall from 5-6.30pm. Music and calling of the dancing is by the Portobello Ceilidh Band. Entry is free and unticketed with limited capacity, so early arrival is recommended.
