Will Edinburgh’s Theatres beat the Beast?

Snow news was bad news for Edinburgh’s theatres on both Wednesday 28 and Thursday 1 March, with only one production continuing on either night.

This page will be updated throughout Friday 2 March 2018 with news of which shows are going on, and which are cancelled, for the weekend.

Definitely going ahead: The Three Degrees are keeping it hot for Allan Stewart at the King’s.

Cancelled shows as of 1pm:
Flight Unwrapped (Festival Theatre) – Friday.
TuTuMucky / RITUALIA (The Traverse) – Saturday.
Dogfight (The Biscuit Factory) – Friday.

Postponed shows:
Today’s 2.30pm performance of Les Miserables at the Brunton.
Jason Donovan and his Amazing Midlife Crisis at the Brunton.

Allan Stewart’s Big Big Variety Show (King’s Theatre). Fri/Sat: 7.30pm.
The Belle’s Stratagem (Lyceum) Fri/Sat 7.30pm; Sat mat: 2pm.
Dido & Aeneas and Gianni Schicchi (Assembly Roxy). Fri/Sat.

Edinburgh Studio Opera was the only company performing on Wednesday 28. After a scheduled break on Thursday, the company told Æ that the performances on Friday and Saturday are expected to go ahead.

Bedlam Theatre

On schedule to go ahead. EUTC told Æ: “it doesn’t look half as bad as yesterday so really gunning to make the show go ahead!!”

The Biscuit Factory

Perfs scheduled: Fri/Sat 7.30pm; Matinee, Sat: 2.30pm.
The performance tonight, Friday, has now been cancelled. Shoogly Peg told Æ: “unfortunately we have decided to cancel the show tonight in light of the weather”. We hope for further updates this afternoon for tomorrow’s date.



The Brunton
Les Misérables

Due to continued adverse weather todays 2.30pm matinee of Les Miserables has been postponed. Tonight’s (Fri 2 Mar) 7.30pm performance will go ahead. Both the 2pm matinee and 7.30pm shows tomorrow (Sat 3 Mar) are scheduled to go ahead. Check social media for further updates.

Full refunds will automatically be issued by Box Office next week. “We are sorry for any inconvenience and we hope to see you soon at another Scottish Opera performance at Capital Theatres.”

“Today (Friday’s) and tomorrow’s performances of Allan Stewart’s Big Big Variety Show will go ahead as scheduled. We understand that weather conditions are still difficult so if you are concerned about travelling, we are offering refunds to customers who are unable to join us as planned.
“If you don’t want to miss the show, exchanges are also being offered for tomorrow’s performances (subject to availability).

Lyceum Theatre
The Belle’s Stratagem

The performances of The Belle’s Stratagem will go ahead as planned. The Lyceum says: “If you live outside Edinburgh and weather conditions will make it dangerous to travel then please contact our Box Office team on boxoffice@lyceum.org.uk who will be happy to exchange your tickets to another night in the run – the show runs until Saturday 10 March 2018.
However, the LYT Curtain raiser scheduled for 6pm on Friday has been cancelled. The following LYT classes for Fri/Sat are also cancelled: Play 1, Mini 1, Brainstorm & Mr Blue Sky rehearsals, Junior 1, Junior 2 and Junior 3.

Playhouse
