Dolly Drops a Date

The latest on snow-affected performances in Edinburgh

After the disruptions of the week, most productions will be going ahead this weekend, although the knock-on effect of the snow is that SLO is opening Hello Dolly! at the King’s a day later than planned.

There are also extra performances over the weekend for Our Country’s Good at Bedlam (Sat: 2pm) and for Dogfight at the Biscuit Factory (Sun: 7.30pm).

Hello Dolly! is opening a day later than planned…

Hello Dolly! was intended to open on Tuesday, running through to Saturday. It will now open on Wednesday 7 March at 7.30pm. It runs five performances to Saturday, including a Saturday matinee.

The company had to cancel rehearsals and costume calls for safety reasons, and the opening has also been affected by the logistics of getting scenery and costumes to Edinburgh.

The theatre is contacting those who booked through them. The SLO box office is working through the Tuesday bookers. Anyone with a Tuesday ticket can now exchange this for another performance for the same price.

The only full cancellation on Saturday is at the Traverse, where today’s performance (Sat 3 Mar, 7.30pm) of TuTuMucky / RITUALIA has been cancelled. Customers do not need to do anything at this stage as full refunds will be made shortly.

Flight goes ahead

The Traverse admin office and box office will remain closed today, although tickets for future shows may still be purchased through its website and the bar will be open from 2pm.

At the Festival Theatre, Scottish Opera has decided to go ahead with its production of Flight, although, due to continuing travel disruption in some areas, the show will be performed with piano accompaniment rather than with full orchestra.

Scottish Opera says: “Much as we’ll miss the wonderful players of The Orchestra of Scottish Opera, we hope you’ll agree that it’s a better option to go ahead with the show rather than cancel.

“We’re really proud of this 5-star production and our great cast, and we want to share it with as many people as possible.”

The company is also offering refunds to those who would prefer not to travel to attend. Call the Box Office if you would like a refund.

Shoogly Peg inform us that they are running both shows of Dogfight at the Biscuit Factory today, having had to cancel three shows in the week. They are also running an extra show on Sunday evening, 7.30pm.

And the foolhardy EUTC performers, already fighting through clouds of their own steaming breath at the Bedlam have added an extra matinee performance of their very excellent Our Country’s Good on Saturday at 2pm.
