Youngsters sought for April show

When the latest glitzy version of Tonight… From the West End hits the Usher Hall in April 2016, its producers will be asking for more – and not just from their headline stars.

The show will be featuring a number from Oliver! among the West End musical hits and they are looking for a local cast of young singers, aged between eight and 14, to join the company.

The company is looking to cast young male performers to play Oliver and the Artful Dodger, with an ensemble of Fagin’s gang.

The youngsters will be joining a 200 strong choir, the Tonight orchestra and featured artists: the Drama Desk Award nominated actress, singer and impressionist Christina Bianco; long-running Loose Women panellist Zoe Tyler; X-Factor finalist Ray Quinn; and winner of 2011’s Britain’s Got Talent, Jai McDowall.

The Edinburgh production of Tonight… From The West End takes place on Saturday 23 April, after nights at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Thursday 21 and Dundee’s Caird Hall on Friday 22. The company is looking for a different young cast for each of the three nights.

The show’s producer, Peter Ferguson, said: “We really want to tap into the local talent out there and if we can showcase budding young performers in each of these cities, then we should.

“We have added a number from hit show Oliver! to our set and we are excited about finding kids across Scotland to join the cast of this brilliant show.”

Anyone wanting to apply to perform in the show should send either a YouTube link or a good quality video clip that clearly shows their performing abilities to info@tonightproductions.co.uk, marking the email ‘Oliver auditions’ and stating which city they wish to perform in.

All applicants should be aged between eight and 14 and indicate that they have their parent or guardian’s permission. Deadline for applications is Tuesday 1 March at 12 noon.
