Priscilla tour seeks boy actors

The Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical tour is looking for two young male actors to share the role of Benji when it arrives at the Edinburgh Playhouse in December.

The Edinburgh dates are being cast by London-based Debbie O’Brien Casting, but Edinburgh company Insideout Productions will be forwarding suitable suggestions this week.

The production plays the Playhouse Tuesday 15 December to Saturday 2 January 2016 and the performers will be required for one rehearsal day before this.

Based on the Oscar winning movie The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the musical tells the story of three drag performers who set off from Sydney across the Australian desert in a battered old tour bus, christened Priscilla. The show contains over 20 classic disco hits such as I Will Survive and I Love The Nightlife.

The role available is Benji, son of Tick (who performs as drag queen Mitzi) and  Marion who is a hotel entertainment manager.

Marion has brought Benji up to be sweet and open-minded. Tick makes the journey across the desert to spend time with him, having been away in Sydney for his early years.
