Tickets have gone on sale today (January 10) for Kieran Hurley’s Rantin, a co-production with the National Theatre of Scotland in collaboration with the Arches, which plays Summerhall on February 6.

This is the only Edinburgh date for the intimate production which is touring Scotland from Friday 24 January to Saturday 1 March.

Part cosy living room gathering, part play, part gig session, Rantin stitches together visions of Scotland’s romantic past with its ever-changing present reality.

Hurley has created the show in close collaboration with his co-performers: musicians Gav Prentice and Drew Wright (aka Wounded Knee) and actor and theatre-maker Julia Taudevin. In it, they exploring the plurality of Scotland’s lives, experiences and cultures to reveal the patchwork identity of a nation.

The show is specifically set in the town of each performance and will draw on storytelling, live music and the Scottish folk tradition.

Kieran Hurley says “I’m really excited to be taking Rantin on tour in 2014. We’ve got a great team, and I can’t wait to share the work with audiences across Scotland.”

Hurley’s award-winning one man show Beats recently toured the UK.  Recent shows include Hitch (Arches, Forest Fringe), and Chalk Farm, co-written with AJ Taudevin, which plays the Traverse on March 20-22. He is the National Theatre of Scotland’s Pearson Playwright in Residence.

Tickets for the Summerhall show on Thursday February 6, 2014, are available from www.summerhall.co.uk price £12 (£10).
