45th Anniversary Tour: Playhouse dates

The sweet transvestites of transexual Transylvania are on the prowl again, for what will be the 45th anniversary tour of Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show.

The UK tour will arrive at the Edinburgh Playhouse for a week in October 2019 after opening for a Christmas season in Brighton on December 13. So far it has 23 dates booked around the country, with more expected soon.

The show features songs like Sweet TransvestiteTime Warp and Hot Patootie – Bless My Soul, which helped Meatloaf make his name, as it follows the mis-adventures of clean cut college kids Brad and Janet into a science fiction, gothic horror mash-up hell, when their car breaks down one dark and stormy night…

Its devotees enjoy the chance to dress up as favourite characters, particularly the more gender subversive, heckle the narrator and throw things at suitable and ironic parts of the show.

The new tour will see Christopher Luscombe returning to the helm – having directed the show’s UK tours since 2006. Designed will be by Hugh Durrant with Sue Blane who designed the costumes for the original 1973 production continuing the role.

Choreography will be by Nathan M Wright, lighting by Nick Richings and sound design by Gareth Owen.

Casting has yet to be announced, but all 23 dates are now on sale – details and links below.
