Tempo Musical Productions are presenting their Spring production of Honk! in a new venue, the purpose-built Main Theatre in Broughton High School.

The musical version of Hans Christian Andersen’s “Ugly Duckling” story, with book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe and music by George Stiles, Honk! won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 2000.

For the Tempo production, a strong adult cast will be supplemented by 16 up-and-coming youngsters, playing ducklings, moorhens, pheasants, hens and froglets.

“Don’t think this is just a kids’ show,” says producer, Kenny Kinnear. “The funky music, quirky humour and strong messages are delivered on many levels. The set and costumes have been created specifically for this production and add a unique visual style to the show”

Honk! runs Monday 15 to Saturday 20 February, 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm matinee on the Saturday 20 February. Broughton High School is at 29 East Fettes Avenue Edinburgh, EH4 1EG. Tickets cost £15 (£12.50 matinees).
