Casting Call for fringe production

Arbery Productions has put out a casting call for its 2016 #EdFringe production of JB Priestley’s rarely seen one-act play: The Rose and Crown.

The company will be keeping most of the existing cast, but is looking to recast Percy Randle – male, aged 25 – 35, with a Cockney or London accent and with a glum, diffident demeanour.

The production is a revival of the one which was staged in the SCDA One-Act Festival by the Grads, coming third in the Eastern Division final. Martin Foreman is directing again.

The play is set in a working-class pub in post-war 1940s London – a cold, shabby, rationed country – where a group of drinkers are complaining about their lot. Most are fed up with life although one is more optimistic.

While they talk, a stranger enters, with an unusual request that none of them want to fulfil. The problem is, they find they can no longer leave the bar…

Auditions will be in Edinburgh on Sunday 15 May, 2.30-5pm and Monday 16 May, 7-9pm. The exact venue has yet to be finalised.

The production will run Mon 22 – Sat 27 August, 9.10pm. Rehearsals will take place in Edinburgh in May (once), June (twice), July (twice) and then more regularly in August.

Anyone wishing to audition for the role should contact  info@arberyproductions.co.uk which is also the address to get audition sides.
