Two Open Audition Dates

The Traverse has announced two open audition dates for this Spring to get to know actors it may not otherwise have the opportunity to meet.

The theatre says is is “keen to meet Scottish based actors we’ve never worked with before and from as wide a range of backgrounds as possible.”

The two audition dates are on Monday 20 January 2020 and Saturday 25 April 2020. The deadline for applications is this Monday 6 January 2020 and is by email.

Audition slots will be allocated at random in order to ensure a fair selection process as The Traverse says it expects high demand for these days. It says it will contact all applicants, successful or otherwise, by Monday January 13.

There will be a limited number of 15 to 20 minute slots on each day. Each slot will involve a chat about your work and your ambitions, alongside two audition monologues – one of your choice and one from a list compiled from the Traverse.

Preparation

Auditionees will be asked to prepare a monologue of up to 2 minutes from any play written over the last 15 years. The Traverse will also supply a short selection of monologues in advance, from which the auditionee should choose one to perform on the audition day.

There will not be a requirement to learn either off by heart – “it’s not a memory test!” – so long you’re familiar enough with both pieces for it to showcase the best of your work.

Auditions will take place at the Traverse and will be fully accessible.

Anyone interested should email casting@traverse.co.uk with the following information:

  • “Open Auditions spring 2020” in the subject line.
  • Your name and date preference.
  • A link to your Spotlight profile or a copy of your CV including acting experience to date and a headshot.
  • A note of any access requirements.

Deadline for applications is Monday 6 January 2020.
