Casting announced for Playhouse dates of Hair the Musical

Jake Quickenden, Daisy Wood-Davis and Marcus Collins will lead the cast of the UK tour of Hair the Musical when it arrives at the Edinburgh Playhouse in June 2019.

The award winning Hope Mill Theatre production, revived in its 2016 50th anniversary incarnation, will set out on its journey of peace and love from New Wimbledon Theatre on 21 March 2019.

Dancing on Ice 2018 champion Jake Quickenden will play the free-spirited Berger with Hollyoaks’ Daisy Wood-Davis as passionate activist Sheila. XFactor 2011 finalist and musical theatre regular Marcus Collins will play, Hud the self-declared “president of the United States of Love”.

It’s 1967 and Hair’s hippie ‘tribe’ of youngsters in the East Village of New York are yearning to change the world, questioning authority and the American flag. Wild, colourful, sexually liberated and free, they are united in protest and song, under the shadow of the Vietnam War.

The tribe’s nominal leader Claude, whose deliberations over rejecting the draft form much of the show’s political questioning, will be played by Paul Wilkins, with Alison Arnopp as Jeanie who is love with him. Bradley Judge plays the gentle Woof and Kelly Sweeny will be the young and innocent Crissy

Tom Bales will play tourist Margaret Mead and Natalie Green will play Mom. The ensemble will be completed by Louise Francis, David Heywood, Aiesha Pease and Spin.
