Maryland
There is cathartic release of pent up rage to Lucy Kirkwood’s Maryland, which had a semi-staged, script-in-hand performance at the Southside Community Centre on Saturday and returns in a different production to the Traverse this week.

What’s on Edinburgh’s stages this week
Not quite a lull before the Christmas storm, but as close as we are going to get to one, as the King’s Panto, Sleeping Beauty, opens its eyes to previews and at the Playhouse, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast drops its petals for the last time.

First hand experience of Arab Spring brought to stage
December 2010 saw the start of what was to become known as the Arab Spring, as revolution spread across the Middle East. Mariem Omari was in Iraq at the time working in a humanitarian role and saw events unfold first hand. Now she has brought her experiences to the stage in Revolution Days.

Open call for Seven Against Edinburgh
The Lyceum’s youth theatre has put out an open call for a dozen young people aged 16 to 21 for its production of Becky Hope-Palmer’s new play with songs, Seven Against Edinburgh, to be staged in April 2022.
