The End of the Line – a feelgood apocalypse comedy at the Edinburgh University Theatre Company’s Bedlam Theatre until 10 August – gives dynamic 1980s vibes, both in its power pop soundtrack and nuclear annihilation storyline.
Edinburgh Improv Tales
★★★☆☆ Quixotic
Edinburgh Improv Tales is a playfully surrealist improvised series of short tales capturing the Jekyll & Hyde nature of Victorian Edinburgh, but without the horror, unless you count the pies made of rats, cheese and beans.
Sins of the Mother
★★★☆☆ Family demons
To have one member of a family make a Faustian pact with Satan may be considered a misfortune. To have a father, a son and an ex-daughter-in-law all entering into deals with the devil suggests that something that has gone well beyond your typical dysfunctional domestic drama.
Timonopoly
★★★★☆ Serious fun
Brite Theatre’s Timonopoly show/game/gameshow is a beautiful, bonkers experience playing at the Scottish Storytelling Centre to 12 August. It brings audiences up close to Shakespeare’s thoughts on the root of all evil.
