EdFringe 2026: Cabaret, Comedy, Dance and Spoken Word
Edinburgh-made Cabaret, Comedy, Dance and Spoken Word at #EdFringe 2026
Something of a catch-all selection this – there isn’t quite enough dance (six shows) for its own section, and it seemed sensible to pull in the other theatre-adjacent shows from other parts of the Fringe programme here too.
EdFringe 2026: Theatre for children and young people
Edinburgh-made theatre for children and young people.
Scotland has some of the best producers of theatre for children and young people in the world. You can see a taste of their work at Imaginate’s May festival of Children’s Theatre. But some of it comes to the Fringe too.
EdFringe 2026: Musicals and Opera
Edinburgh-made musical theatre & opera at #EdFringe 2026
Edinburgh companies are as well represented as ever in the Musicals section of the fringe programme, with 37 different productions – thanks largely to the 12 musicals being staged by Captivate and a further 7 at Hill Street.
EdFringe 2026: Professional & Funded Theatre
Edinburgh-made professional and funded theatre at EdFringe 2026
Here are the ten fully professional funded companies who have productions at this year’s Fringe. It is always a tricky balance here, so do check the 85 productions listed in the Grassroots section of the listings as well.
EdFringe 2026: Youth and Student Theatre
Edinburgh-made youth and student theatre at #EdFringe 2026
There is a slight reduction in the number of youth and student theatre companies this year, partly down to the reduced number of New Celts productions from the Napier University initiative. Still there are 15 productions in all.
EdFringe 2026: Grassroots Theatre
Edinburgh-made theatre by grassroots companies at EdFringe 2025
Grassroots companies of one kind or another make up the majority of theatre made in Edinburgh, with an amazing, although quite frankly unwieldy (in listings terms), 85 different productions.
EdFringe 2026: Amateur Theatre
Edinburgh-made theatre from amateur companies at EdFringe 2026
Edinburgh’s amateur companies were at the first ever Fringe and they are still here, with an intriguing and hugely ambitious programme of theatre that spans the genres.
