Derren Brown’s Only Human for Edinburgh

Illusionist to visit Playhouse in June 2026

Tickets are now on sale for illusionist Derren Brown’s extended tour of his latest show, Only Human, coming to the Edinburgh Playhouse from Tue 23 to Sat 27 June 2026.

This will be the only Scottish date of the tour which opened in April 2025 and tickets are now on general sale at this link here. It’s his eleventh tour to date and the first since he was at the Playhouse in 2022, with Showman (Æ review: ★★★★★ Personal).

For Only Human, Brown returns to many of his recent collaborators. Andrew O’Connor returns on co-directing duty and is writing the show with Brown and Stephen Long.

Simon Higglet, whose set was a “carefully manicured framework” for Showman, is again on design duty. And Charlie Morgan Jones’s lighting design will no doubt be a whole realm of magic in itself, once more.

Announcing the 20 date extension to the current tour, Brown said: “I’ve toured with different shows for 20 years and it’s such a joy.

“Only Human seems to be going down very well, and people are keeping the show secret for which I’m very grateful… Try and come without knowing anything about it.”

Olivier Award winner

The “master of mind control and psychological illusion” has been nominated for the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment five times, winning twice with Something Wicked This Way Comes in 2006 and Svengali in 2012.

His 2017 show, Secret, won the New York Drama Desk Award for ‘Unique Theatrical Experience’ and returned for a sell-out run on Broadway in 2019.
