Pub quiz institution Goose’s Quizzes returns to the Fringe with their Elimination Game running for the full fringe, every night at Assembly Rooms’ Bijou Spiegeltent.
The company has entertained locals in Edinburgh and Glasgow since 2011 with free, high-quality quizzes, earning a cult following and national recognition for breathing a new lease of life into the traditional trivia night.

Founder Andrew Wildgoose has brilliantly transformed the pub quiz into an interactive live gameshow. The concept is deceptively simple yet highly effective – and it works a charm. The Bijou stage is split into three colour-coded zones – red, yellow and green – linked to answers projected on a big screen overhead. The audience moves between zones to lock in choices, turning a night of trivia into an energetic and engaging spectacle.
Unlike a pub quiz team huddled in whispers and secrecy, this version thrives on loud participation and giggles. People live-comment and influence each other’s decisions, punctuated by ooohs and aaahs when the correct answer is finally revealed. Whether you remain in the game or you’re being ejected to the outskirts of the stage waiting for the next round to play, there’s a buzzing and playful atmosphere where nobody leaves feeling like a loser. With multiple rounds and prizes, you actually have plenty of chances to win and share a moment in the spotlight.
Wildgoose, in his sparkling goose-emblazoned jacket, is a relaxed but commanding host, balancing humour with genuine warmth. He keeps the crowd entertained throughout while never taking the contest (or himself) too seriously.
From Arts and Culture to Sport, Geography and Science, this Trivial Pursuit-meets-Bridge of Lies combo flexes both the grey matter and the legs. Each night brings a new mix of questions and surprises, so grab a drink, rally your mates and dive in – this is the perfect pre- or post-Fringe palate cleanser: fast, fun, and surprisingly addictive.
