Jodie Comer for Lyceum
Prima Facie sets Feb 2026 dates for Lyceum
Jodie Comer will return “one last time” to her award-winning performance as barrister Tessa in Suzie Miller’s one-hander Prima Facie, in a nine stop tour visiting the Lyceum in February 2026.
Tickets go on sale to Lyceum patrons at 10am on Tuesday 25 March 2025, with general sale starting 24 hours later. This is the only Scottish date of the production for which both Comer and Miller won Olivier awards; and Comer a Tony.
Prima Facie was Jodie Comer’s West End and Broadway debut, having made her professional stage debut as the daughter, Ruby, in Fiona Evans’ The Price of Everything at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough, in 2010.
Best known for her turn in Killing Eve, for which she garnered leading actress awards at both the BAFTAs and the Emmys, Comer has a raft of strong TV and film performances under her belt, and is will next be seen in Danny Boyle’s latest instalment in the 28 Days Later film series.
In Prima Facie, the legal term for “at first sight” Comer plays brilliant young barrister Tessa, who has worked her way up from working class origins to be at the top of her game. She loves to win: prosecuting, cross examining and lighting up the shadows of doubt in any case she takes on.
An unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof and morals diverge.
resonance
Commenting on the tour, Comer said: “It is a huge privilege to return to Prima Facie for one last time and take this important play on tour across the UK and Ireland. The resonance of Suzie Miller’s writing, both in London and New York, exceeded anything we could have imagined.
“I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to get the team back together and take the production to theatres around the country, including my hometown of Liverpool. On a personal note, I can’t think of a better finale to what has been such an incredible and deeply rewarding chapter in my life.”
Australian playwright and civil rights lawyer Suzie Miller came to attention at EdFringe 2008 with Reasonable Doubt, directed by Guy Masterson, about two jurors who have had an illicit affair during a murder trial.
Commenting on the tour Miller said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled about the Prima Facie 2026 tour; this play has already achieved more than we all could have dreamed, and Jodie’s commitment to the story reaching so many new venues and communities means more people can be part of the conversation, and the solution.”
partnerships
The play is directed by Justin Martin with designs by Miriam Buether, lighting by Natasha Chivers, sound by Max and Ben Ringham and video by Willie Williams. It features a soundtrack by Rebecca Lucy Taylor (Self Esteem).
The tour will continue the play’s partnerships with charities the Schools Consent Project, which sends lawyers into schools to teach 11-18 year olds the legal definition of consent and key sexual offences; and Everyone’s Invited, which offers a safe space for all survivors to share their stories completely anonymously.
