What’s on Edinburgh’s stages this week?
Not a lot it must be said, but what is on is shouting out from the rooftops. Well, they are up at the Church Hill and along at the Lyceum where the young teams are having a ball in what are this week’s top tips.
The big one is Everybody’s Talking About Jamie from Find Your Light productions at the Church Hill (Thurs – Sat: tickets). This is the tale of young Jamie New, just 16, bursting out of his housing-estate existence, determined to be a star and terrified of his future. This is big-time positivity writ large and great fun!
Then the youngsters on the Summer on Stage courses at the Lyceum have a Double Bill of scenes from Philip Pullman’s Grimm Tales Adapted by Philip Wilson (Fri/Sat: tickets). These are always great fun and show a wealth of burgeoning talent.
There’s a trio of established big stars (in their own worlds) touring to town for your delectation as well. Well you don’t get much bigger than Michael Flatley in the Irish Dance world. His Lord of the Dance 30th Anniversary tour is at the Playhouse (Thurs – Sun: tickets). The best seats are long gone, but there is still reasonable availability except the Sat matinee, when you will have to squeeze into the gods.
Before that, the Playhouse has Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf, (Wed: tickets) which has the great comedian sharing his stage with a tough-talking werewolf from the dark forests of the subconscious who hates humanity.
And then the K-Pop All Stars are rocking the Festival Theatre stage for a Saturday Matinee (tickets), brining the thrill of Seoul’s stages to life with spectacular numbers inspired by the smash-hit film K-pop Demon Hunters.
