Showcase 2017
★★★★☆ Exquisite
There’s more than a little love, a big nod to popular dance and a timely sense of introspection in this year’s Showcase, which is playing at the Church Hill Theatre all week.
Titanic
★★★★☆ Huge:
Epic in sweep, thoroughly musical and breathtakingly staged, Southern Light Opera’s Titanic The Musical has some real drawbacks but provides marvellous entertainment overall.
Unsinkable SLO
It’s Titanic at the King’s:
Southern Light Opera returns to the King’s Theatre this week with its 120th annual show, a mammoth production of Titanic The Musical that the company hopes will get right into the soul of the tragedy.
Showcase 2016
★★★☆☆ Energetic variety:
Well staged, beautifully sung and dazzlingly eclectic, Showcase 2016 is not always consistent but certainly has something for everyone.
Showcase 2015
★★★☆☆ On song:
Returning to the Church Hill Theatre for their 25th annual production, Showcase provide a fitting tribute for the theatre’s own fiftieth anniversary on 25 September 2015.
Showcase 2015
★★★★☆ Showstoppers:
Working the surprise factor to great effect, Showcase rises to the challenges of staging a big choral show on the King’s stage with significant success.
Showcase 2014
★★★★☆ All round enjoyment:
All-singing, all-dancing and impeccably staged, Showcase 2014 is clever, accomplished and great fun.
Review – Showcase: Musical Diversity
★★★★☆: Bold choices, big voices:
There’s no disputing the title of Showcase’s latest adventure into the world of pop, rock, musicals and music from films and TV. Musically, diversity runs right through it.
Review – Heroes
★★★☆☆ Musical heroics:
There is an audacious opening to Showcase’s latest musical offering up at the Church Hill Theatre all this week. Heroes might be the show’s title and theme, but instead of extracts from the evening, the overture uses a certain Stranglers number to gets the audience bobbing in their seats.
