The Musselburgh Amateur Musical Association made a strong and entertaining go of their 24 hour Musical Challenge – to learn, rehearse and perform a musical all in 24 hours, staging the final result on Saturday night at the Portobello Town Hall.

Work in Progress: Enjoyably thought-provoking.
Valeria Levi’s Listen to the Forest is an experimental dance performance combining movement, spoken word, music and innovative use of sign language. It is currently in the second stage of its development process, with hopes for a final stage later in the year, but is already an enjoyably thought-provoking production.

Peter Pan Goes Wrong, at the Playhouse until Saturday, can – much like its title character – apparently never get old. Instead, it remains fresh, funny and great fun on almost every level.

Things I Know to be True by the Australian writer, Andrew Bovell, staged by Edinburgh University Theatre Company at the Bedlam to Saturday, is a less well-known piece, although Higher Drama students may know it intimately.
The Wizard of Oz

We’ve been to see The Wizard, and oh what a Wizard it was. Yes, the Yellow Brick Road leads to Edinburgh Playhouse this week for a spectacular new production of The Wizard of Oz, the beloved 1939 musical movie based on L Frank Baum’s series about the wonderful land of Oz.
Guys and Dolls

Visually and aurally impressive, Edinburgh University Footlights’ production of Guys and Dolls at the Pleasance is buoyant and extremely enjoyable.
