What’s on Edinburgh’s Stages this week?
It’s a big week for Edinburgh’s amateur companies, with four different productions being staged around the city and the inaugural StagEHd festival coming to the Ross Bandstand over the coming weekend.
A Room with a Couple
Odd Couple ticket holders can use tickets for EPT show
Edinburgh People’s Theatre has offered any ticket holders for the cancelled Leitheatre production of The Odd Couple the opportunity to use them to see EPT’s A Tomb With A View.
Tomb Hopping
EPT get farcical with Norman Robbins
Edinburgh People’s Theatre return to the Church Hill Theatre this week with a production of A Tomb with a View, from Wednesday to Saturday, following the success of the Men Should Weep back in March.
Odd Couple pulled
Covid hits Leitheatre’s Studio show
Positive testings for Covid in Leitheatre’s cast have caused it to abandon its production of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple which had been due to play the Studio this week.
Hay Fever
★★★☆☆ Lightly hilarious
Every family has their foibles, but the Bliss family are next-level eccentric in Noel Coward’s delicious comedy Hay Fever – brought to the Assembly Roxy by EGTG for four performances only.

What’s on Edinburgh’s stages this week?
The answer is, sadly, not a lot. Maybe people are beginning to gear up towards their Fringe offerings, but the first flush of Covid-postponed shows seems to have passed.
Birdboy
★★★★☆ Iridescent dance
Birdboy, at the Traverse as part of Imaginate for just three days, sets out as hilarious a piece of physical dance theatre as you might want. But by its end, it has caught its audience with an altogether more thoughtful edge.
Anything Goes
★★★★★ Just go!
The West End hits central Edinburgh this week, as Cole Porter’s seaborne musical Anything Goes sails into the Festival Theatre for a very limited run until this Sunday.
Cluedo
★★★☆☆ Absurd
The touring Cluedo at the King’s is billed as a ‘brand new play’ and ‘an exciting comedy thriller’. It is certainly possible to quibble with those descriptions as there is little excitement, few thrills and nothing new. However, it does have considerable comic value.
