3in1 Theatre’s community casting call

East Lothian-based company 3in1 Theatre has put out an open casting call for the community production of a new play exploring the story of the Gorebridge District Nursing Association.

The play will be staged in Gorebridge in April and features a cast of Nurses, patients, community people and the doctor Dr Easterbrook. The company is looking for both male and female performers “of any or no experience”, who are 18 years or older.

The production builds on the success of 3in1’s Swan, about the life and times of Gorebridge-born novelist Annie S Swan, which was staged at the National Mining Museum Scotland in early September 2017.

The new play, which is yet to be named, tells the story of the Association through a group of fictional characters according to the company’s artistic director Matt Dunn. He will be holding auditions on the evening of Wednesday 10 January 2018 in Gorebridge.

Dunn told Æ: “Auditions will last approximately 10 or 15 minutes, we will ask you some questions to get to know you a little, then you’ll have a chance to read some of the script with us and ask any questions you may have.”

The play is funded by Historic Environment Scotland in partnership with the Gorebridge Community Development Trust.

Rehearsals will take place weekly on a Monday and Wednesday evening from 7 to 9.30pm in Gorebridge, beginning on the evening of Monday 15 January 2018. The show will be performed over three nights in April 2018 at a venue to be confirmed.

Anyone wishing to audition for the production should contact the company either through the form on its website here: https://3in1theatre.com/casting-call/ or by emailing Matt Dunn on matthew.dunn@3in1theatre.com.
