What’s on Stage this week?
Well, that was the Fringe that was… Hope you all had a wonderful time of it. So what of Edinburgh’s stages this week? Not a theatrical sausage, unsurprisingly, everyone’s gone for a little lie-down. But here are some listings at any rate!

Something of a catch-all selection this – there isn’t quite enough dance (six shows) for its own section, and it seemed sensible to pull in the other theatre-adjacent shows from other parts of the Fringe programme here too.

Scotland has some of the best producers of theatre for children and young people in the world. You can see a taste of their work at Imaginate’s May festival of Children’s Theatre. But some of it comes to the Fringe too.

Edinburgh companies are as well represented as ever in the Musicals section of the fringe programme, with 37 different productions – thanks largely to the 12 musicals being staged by Captivate and a further 7 at Hill Street.

There is a slight reduction in the number of youth and student theatre companies this year, partly down to the reduced number of New Celts productions from the Napier University initiative. Still there are 15 productions in all.

What’s on Edinburgh’s stages this week?
The big news of the week is the soft opening of the King’s Theatre with a trio of Dress Rehearsal nights, to get everything front of house and back stage up to speed before the grand reopening next week.
