Brunton Theatre
Anything Goes
★★★★☆ It’s the Top:
The SS American sets sail from the Brunton Theatre in Musselburgh each night until Saturday with some colourful characters and a mischievous rogue or two on board.
Bowie’s Brunton Connection
Brunton quest for Kemp’s panto request:
A revelation by choreographer Lindsay Kemp that David Bowie turned down a part in a Musselburgh panto has left bosses at the Brunton theatre scratching their heads.
Extra date for Our Ladies
Brunton adds matinee of NTS smash hit:
The Brunton theatre has added an extra matinee for Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour, the National Theatre of Scotland’s five star EdFringe smash hit.
Oliver!
★★★☆☆ Cheeky swagger:
One of the most charming things about an Encore production is that you can always consider yourself part of the family. And their take on Lionel Bart’s Oliver! at the Brunton is as cheeky and cheerful as you would expect, while still managing to deliver a menacing undertone.
Guys and Dolls
★★★☆☆ On song:
Crisply led from the pit, Musselburgh Amateur Musical Association’s production of Guys and Dolls, at the Brunton until Saturday, swings in all the right places as it pushes the music to the fore.
Brunton Steamie
Quirky Pond stir Corelli:
It takes a lot to shake Andy Corelli. He’s the kind of theatre director who likes to shake it up himself, finding the unusual in a story, the unexpected in a play and capturing that in a production.
Review – Kiss Me Honey, Honey!
★★★★☆ Hot duo come good
Superlative double-act action from Grant Stott and Andy Gray ensure that this Gilded Balloon production – seen at the Brunton and touring to the King’s – is right on the button in terms of entertainment.
Life in a nutshell
The Nutshell theatre company think big, there’s no doubt about it. One hundred performances of their hit Allotment last year is evidence enough – the site specific piece is performed in a specifically grown allotment each venue.
