The Scarecrows’ Wedding
✭✭✭✩✩ Quite funny
Junior review by Cora Dibdin:
I enjoyed this play but found it very hard to review. The play is from the book by Julia Donaldson. It is about two scarecrows called Betty O’Barley and Harry O’Hay getting married.
SpectreTown
✭✭✭✭✩ Diffuse and troubling:
SpectreTown, Stoirm Òg’s co-production with Cumbernauld Theatre, lacks focus and seems to be flying off in different directions at the same time. This leads to a production that is almost wilfully confusing, but has an undeniable power.
The Fairmer Wants A Wife
✭✭✭✭✩ Warm and funny:
There is nothing remotely groundbreaking about EPT’s The Fairmer Wants A Wife at Mayfield Church. What is provided is a thoroughly enjoyable, very well presented piece of Scottish comedy.
Bold Girls
✭✭✭✩✩ Careful ensemble piece:
There are no real surprises or any great excitement to be had in Bold Girls at theSpace on the Mile, but there are some solid performances by a promising young cast.
Shakespeare in the Garden: Brave Macbeth
✭✭✭✭✩ Childish Brilliance
Young critics scheme review:
Funny, fast and exciting, Shakespeare in the Garden: Brave Macbeth is an excellent example of children’s educational theatre done right.
Gruffalos, Ladybirds and Other Beasts – Junior Review
✭✭✭✭✭ Hilarious and very exciting
Junior review by Cora Dibdin:
This show had the real Julia Donaldson. She brought her husband Malcolm and sister Mary and there were two other people, James and Joanna.
Ada
✭✭✭✭✩ Educational and enchanting:
The student run Edinburgh University Theatre Company deliver an intriguing insight into the life of Ada Lovelace, but it might just be a little too clever for its own good.
Release Your Inner Cartoonist
✭✭✭✭✩ Creative fun:
Young critics scheme review
Imaginative, amusing and jam packed with helpful tips, Harry Venning’s workshop Release Your Inner Cartoonist is great for any kids with an interest in comics and cartoons.
Shakespeare in the Garden – Brave Macbeth

Hilariously silly yet educational, Captivate Theatre’s production of Shakespeare in the Garden – Brave Macbeth for children proves a roaring success with child and adult audience members alike.
