Calendar Girls
★★★★☆ Bittersweet
Blackout Productions’ Calendar Girls, at the Church Hill Theatre to Saturday, combines affable comic familiarity with enough grit and sadness to convince.

Silent Night
★★★★☆ Warming
Silent Night, from Arkle at the Royal Scots Club for one week only, is a cheering and beautifully assembled production.

Made in Dagenham
★★★★☆ Up-standing:
As the political stew bubbles over the edges of the Westminster cauldron, Allegro’s big and bold production of Made in Dagenham reminds us of a time when politics was a lot more simple – and the issues were even more fundamental.

The Sorcerer
★★★★☆ What larks:
For careful execution and straightforward fun, it is difficult to imagine many recent productions of Gilbert and Sullivan have beaten Cat-Like Tread’s The Sorcerer at Paradise in Augustines.

Titanic
★★★★☆ Huge:
Epic in sweep, thoroughly musical and breathtakingly staged, Southern Light Opera’s Titanic The Musical has some real drawbacks but provides marvellous entertainment overall.

Black Comedy
✭✭✭✭✩ Fast-paced fun:
Excellent comic timing is a feature of Arkle’s extremely enjoyable Black Comedy at the Royal Scots Club.

More Oliver!
Pictures from the record breaking run:
