Sold out show to return in 2025
This week’s performances of SIX at the Edinburgh Playhouse, like nearly every performance of the show, sold out well in advance. The good news is that SIX is to return in October 2025, with tickets on sale now.
The tour of SIX returns for eight performances from Tuesday 21 to Saturday 25 October 2025. Tickets went on sale today, Monday 10 June 2024 and are available here. Performances take place at 8pm every night, with three matinees: on Wednesday 22 and Friday 24 at 5pm, and Saturday matinee at 4pm.
Six returns for a fourth time in 2025…
This will be the fourth visit of the modern retelling of the lives of the six wives of Henry VIII, presented in the form of a pop concert. It premiered at the Fringe in 2017 as a student production with music, book, and lyrics by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss.
The show’s subsequent success has been phenomenal, with tours all around the world. It has remained in the West End (apart from during Covid) since it first opened in January 2019. The UK tour has been more-or-less continuous since it reopened in June 2021 after the Covid hiatus and is currently booking through to December 2025.
It continues at London’s Vaudeville Theatre, where it is currently booking until Sunday 4 May 2025 (tickets). It also returns to the Glasgow Theatre Royal in the end of February 2025 (Tue 25 Feb – Sat 1 Mar: tickets)
The show has been reviewed twice on All Edinburgh Theatre. In 2020 at the Festival Theatre we said it was ★★★★☆ Royally good, and again at the Festival theatre this time in 2022 with arrival of a new cast it was ★★★★☆ Spitting rhymes.
The musical takes the Tudor Queens, Henry VIII’s six wives, and presents them as pop princesses. The wives take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an 80-minute celebration of 21st century girl power. As the strapline says: “These Queens may have green sleeves but their lipstick is rebellious red”.
