Edinburgh University Footlights
Kiss Me, Kate
★★★★☆ Chef’s kiss
Kiss Me, Kate, from the Edinburgh University Footlights, is a strikingly ambitious production. Not every element succeeds equally, but some aspects are excellent, and all of it entertains.
Grease
★★★★☆ Slick
The EU Footlights student cast and crew hand jive their way through the 1950s-set musical Grease in an energetic and fun production at Paradise in Augustine’s for the last full week of the Fringe.
All Who Wander
★★★★☆ Revealing
Magnusson Centre: Thurs 21 – Sat 23 Mar 2024
Review by Thom Dibdin.
The Edinburgh University Footlights Showchoir just about knock it out the park with All Who Wander, their latest portmanteau show of musical theatre numbers, at the Magnusson Centre in the Edinburgh Academy to Saturday.
Sunday in the Park with George
★★★☆☆ Picturesque
Edinburgh University Footlights’ production of Sunday in the Park with George, at Paradise in Augustines for the final week of the Fringe, is crafted with huge care and the maximum of good intentions.
Bring It On
★★★★☆ Smashed it
Edinburgh University Footlights give a big, entertaining and generally well thought-through take on Bring It On, at the Pleasance Theatre all week to Saturday.
Company
★★★★☆ Vibrant
EU Footlights burst onto the tiny upstairs stage of the Roman Eagle Lodge with a gloriously effective production of Company for one week only, running to Sunday August 14.
Welcome to the Cabaret
★★★★★ Full on
EU Footlights has wandered down the hill to the Edinburgh Academy Magnusson Centre where their Showchoir’s Welcome to the Cabaret is as good a portmanteau production as any I have seen.
