The Virtuous Burglar
★★★☆☆ Uproarious
A nod to British 1970s classics is a smart touch adding comic familiarity to Italian farce The Virtuous Burglar, which appears at the Royal Scots Club until 9 August.
Twelfth Night
★★★☆☆ Droll
The Forth Act return to Saughton Park with another helping of outdoor Shakespeare, transporting the Illyria of Twelfth Night to a beach town in the summer of 1967.
A Christmas Carol
★★★★☆ Thoughtful
That most evergreen of Christmas stories – A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens – is given a faithful, tuneful and carefully contemporary spin by Forth Act at Saint Salvador’s in Stenhouse.
Odds, Broads and Frauds
★★★☆☆ Mixed
In Odds, Broads and Frauds, St Serf’s Players bring a trio of comedies to the stage at Inverleith which make for a somewhat disparate evening-out in terms of tone, but is certainly an entertaining one all round.
