The Glass Menagerie
★★★★☆ Reflective
There is intelligence, theatrical knowhow and surprising humour in The Glass Menagerie, at the Lyceum for one week only. The Dundee Rep production (in association with the Citizens and the Lyceum) is utterly convincing and wonderfully acted.
Orphans
★★★☆☆ Raucous
Full of comic bravado, the National Theatre of Scotland’s long-delayed musical adaptation of Orphans at the King’s is an attractive but unwieldy beast.
Distance Remaining
★★★☆☆ Assured
There are some wonderful, and wonderfully human, performances in Distance Remaining. The three separate sections of the production ultimately fail to gel, but there is more than enough to sustain the interest.
Rapunzel – A Hairy Tale Adventure

The National Theatre of Scotland’s Rapunzel is full of enjoyment and impressive performances. Although it never quite stakes its claim as a compelling work in its own right, there is plenty to satisfy those missing their annual helping of seasonal entertainment.

The Traverse are replicating their Fringe Breakfast Plays with streams from their new online-only Traverse 3, and the first two offerings – Contemporary Political Ethics (Or, How to Cheat) by Jamie Cowan and Rabbit Catcher by Rebecca Martin – both have much to recommend them.
How Not To Drown
★★★☆☆ Human drama:
How Not To Drown at the Traverse is an involving and humane piece of theatre, detailing stories that need to be heard. However – in theatrical terms – problems of structuring cause its impact to be diminished.
