Plenty for all tastes on Edinburgh’s stages this week. On the amateur stages, EDGAS give G&S’s Yeomen of the Guard an outing at the Festival Theatre and up at the Church Hill it’s the Edinburgh round of the SCDA One Act Festival.
Hamilton for Edinburgh
Nine week season at Festival Theatre
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton has booked into the Festival Theatre for a nine week season in 2024. The Scottish premiere will be the second date of a UK tour starting in Manchester this November.
Rose Theatre for sale
£3 million price tag on New Town theatre
The Rose Theatre at 150 Rose Street in Edinburgh’s New Town has been put up for sale with a guide price of £3 million by its owner, the Danish choreographer and director Peter Schaufuss.

Moonset, Maryam Hamidi’s coming-of-age story from the Citizens Theatre at the Traverse, is full of fire and anger. Its wilful refusal to settle down proves both a strength and a weakness.

Forth Children’s Theatre’s production of the evergreen musical Anything Goes at the Edinburgh Tabernacle is performed impressively and with an infectious glee.
Bring It On

Edinburgh University Footlights give a big, entertaining and generally well thought-through take on Bring It On, at the Pleasance Theatre all week to Saturday.
All Shook Up
★★★★☆ Energetic
The Bohemians Lyric Opera Company’s presentation of the Elvis Presley jukebox musical All Shook Up at the Church Hill is a riotous and fun-packed affair.
Pretty Woman for Edinburgh
Playhouse dates in April 2024
Pretty Woman: The Musical, the 80s Hollywood rom-com live on stage, is playing the Edinburgh Playhouse in April 2024 after making its Scottish debut at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal in November this year.
Love Beyond (Act of Remembrance)

The Raw Material / Vanishing Point production of the world premier of Ramesh Meyyappan’s Love Beyond (Act of Remembrance) is a beautifully poignant contribution to this year’s Manipulate Festival.
