Act Too: Acting workshops for amateur performers

Edinburgh People’s Theatre is organising Act Too, a series of monthly acting workshops at its club premises at Mayfield Gardens.

The May workshop will take place on Wednesday 18, with the title “Is your character big enough?” and will be led by Colin Peter.

Act Too MayPeter is an experienced director, actor and drama adjudicator. He directed  Leitheatre’s five star production of Dolly West’s Kitchen in 21015 and is down to direct EPT’s panto this year.

The workshop will look at how to form a believable presence on stage.

According to APT: “We will look at characterisation and how to form a character from head to foot, how and when to introduce the character at rehearsals and how a script can help to shape a character.

“And to add some fun, we will look at two page excerpts for everyone to have some fun with, and see how characters add to a production.”

The workshop is open to all and is free to EPT members. Non members will be asked for a nominal fee of £5.

Anyone interested in taking part in the workshop should add their name on EPT’s Facebook page: EdinburghPeoplesTheatre
