Bat Out Of Hell for Playhouse

UK tour rides into Edinburgh February 2022

Bat Out Of Hell – the Musical, has confirmed dates for Edinburgh’s Playhouse in February 2022, before it heads up to Aberdeen, with an earlier visit to the Glasgow King’s in October this year. Tickets are on sale for all three dates.

The musical, based on Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell trilogy of albums, is due to set out on a UK and Ireland tour from Manchester in September and has dates inked in through to November 2022 with more to be added.

In Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical, Steinman’s songs propel an epic story of rebellious youth and passion, loosely based on Peter Pan. Strat, the immortal leader of The Lost, has fallen in love with Raven, the beautiful daughter of the tyrannical ruler Falco.

Announcing the current tour, producer Michael Cohl said: “We’ve all been through a lot these past 15 months and we now need a really good night out with friends and family.

“Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical will give you the most fun night you can have in the UK and Ireland this year (with your clothes on)! People will once again be able to dance and sing along to these great Steinman songs.

He added: “This musical was Jim Steinman’s life-long dream and he was incredibly proud of the love the show received from critics and audiences alike. This tour will be in memory of Jim.”

Evening Standard Best Musical award

The original Bat Out Of Hell album was released in 1977 to initially slow sales. It was based on an idea Steinman had for a rock musical which had evolved over the previous decade. It continued evolving as the album slowly became one the best-selling albums in history and was the making of the singer, Meat Loaf.

The musical eventually premiered at the Manchester Opera House on 17 February 2017 before transferring to London where it won the Evening Standard Best Musical award. This UK tour was originally slated by start in September 2020.
