Bohemians call out for Footloose men

The Bohemians Lyric Opera Company has put an urgent call-out for male chorus members for its Spring 2018 production of Footloose the Musical.

The company kicks off its regular Tuesday rehearsals at the St Stephen’s Centre in Stockbridge this month, ahead of the show hitting the King’s in March 2018.

The production team told Æ: “We can’t wait to get started on this amazing show; it’s got dancing, it’s got drama, and it’s got great musical hits! But we’re still looking for more male chorus members. Our fantastic females need boys to flirt with and whisk them onto the dance floor.”

Footloose the Musical is based on the 1984 film directed by Herbert Ross – itself loosely based on real events.

When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the adjustment to his new high school. What he isn’t prepared for are the local laws – including a ban on Ren’s favourite pastime: dancing.

Anyone interested in joining the company for the show should email blocauditions@gmail.com for further details, including rehearsal times, show dates, and info on how you can become a part of one of Edinburgh’s premiere theatre companies.
